Mandragora Beret Encloaked feels like a sullen, almost sinister twist on a Miyazaki soundtrack. While a lot of dungeon synth and ambient black evokes images of crumbling underground passageways and abandoned fortresses, songs like The Ramtops or Amongst the Roots put me in mind of the lowest levels of a forest, where light barely touches and ethereal beings flit at the edges of perception. Favorite track: Amongst the Roots.
